Real Madrid legend Raul retires from football


Nov 15, 2015- Real Madrid legend Raul announced his retirement from football after playing a season campaign with  New York Cosmos. The former Spain striker, 38, joined the Cosmos of the North American Soccer League, a level below Major League Soccer, in December 2014 but has decided to call it a day after a single campaign.

Raul spent 16 seasons with Real Madrid and won 102 caps from Spanish national side during 1996-2006.
Raúl is the 5th highest goal scorer in the history of La Liga competition with 228 goals. He is also the highest Spanish scorer in European leagues, with 256 goals, scoring 228 goals in La Liga and 28 goals in the Bundesliga. Moreover, he is the second most capped player in the history of the Spanish competition, with 550 games played.
'Playing soccer has been part of my life for so long and the decision to retire is not an easy one but I believe it is the right time." wrote dailymail quoting Raul.
