India awards Anuradha Koirala with Padma Shri

Jan 25, 2017- Nepali social worker Anuradha Koirala will be honoured with Padma Shri award by the Indian government.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Indian embassy in Nepal confirmed Koirala is the only foreigner to be awarded with the country's fourth highest civilian award.
Awarded for her exemplary Social Work, Dijju (sister) Anuradha Koirala is the only foreigner to be bestowed Padma Shri Award 2017, the embassy tweeted.
Padma Shri is awarded by the Indian government to individuals in recognition of their distinguished contribution to different fields. It is the fourth highest civilian award after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan.
Koiralai founded Maiti Nepal in 1993 and has been working to help the victims of sex trafficking.
